Dennis   Komatsu

A graphic designer by trade, Dennis Komatsu balances his profession with the management of a very successful fly shop in Southern California. Examples of his artistic talent can be seen on the covers of the '93 and '94 Able Reel catalogs as well as in the flies he designs and ties. His busy schedule still allows him the opportunity to fish 5 to 6 weeks a season with his wife Barbara and daughter, Nicole. Dennis lists Idaho, Utah, Montana, Colorado, and his home waters of California as his favorite destinations. With some very careful thought, he names Silver Creek as his favorite fishing spot.

Dennis is most noted for his skill casting tiny flies with fine tippets while pursuing large selective trout. This love is reflected in his fly designs and his careful selection of materials and colors. His Phase I and II emerger concept gives even the most demanding fly fisherman enough choice to cope with any situation on the stream.
